Manage rules

In the Smart Routing service, a rule is an expression that describes the procedure of how to process a transaction. Based on the “if …, then …” logical link, a rule consists of one or several conditions and an expected result of the check.

You can configure both simple and complex rule conditions. The latter consists of various simple conditions combined by logical operators AND and OR.

Each rule should belong to a flow of a certain type which defines the result of the check. The result can be the following:

  • An action as an instruction to the payment processing system on what to do with a transaction (for example, to reject a payment).

  • An object or a group of objects as an instruction on where to send the transaction for further processing (for example, the payment gateway of the merchant’s acquiring bank).
