Configuration of payment gateways
To accept online payments for goods and services, a merchant should have one or more payment gateways configured and connected to the shop.
A payment gateway is a dedicated channel provided by an acquirer for secure processing of transactions which are initiated by customers to pay for goods and services that merchants offer in their shops. A bank or a payment service provider, who provides a payment gateway to a merchant, might have processing restrictions or limited opportunities or impose those on a payment gateway. It may concern the following:
- Supported types of transactions and processing flows;
- Supported currencies;
- Limits on the total amount of payments per month;
- Limits on the maximum and minimum amount of a transaction, etc.
To enable a payment gateway for transaction processing, you must set a unique set of authorization data in the system. Each merchant receives these credentials independently or with assistance of the payment service provider from an acquirer who provides a payment gateway to the merchant.
Configuration of payment gateways is available to a user with the Account Manager role, who can do the following:
- View a list of the payment gateways enabled for a shop;
- Connect a payment gateway to a shop;
- View payment gateway settings;
- Edit the settings and activation status of a payment gateway;
- Set transaction processing limits;
- Set transaction processing rates;
- Enable the conversion monitor service.
