# Create a custom field

To create [a custom field](https://ecomcharge.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DOC/pages/2114027543/Set+fields#fieldtype), make the following steps:

1. Select the **Fields** tab on the account settings page.
2. Click on **+Add Field**.
3. Indicate the field parameters.
4. To save the field settings, click on **Add Field**.

**Table: Field parameters** 

| **Parameter** | **Description** |
| --- | --- |
| General settings |  |
| **Field name\*** | A unique name of the field, a parameter key. |
| **Type** | A data type. Possible values: - String (set by default) - Integer - Boolean - Currency |
| **Size\*** | The maximum allowed number of characters for a field value. |
| **Register\*** | A register used for field values. Applicable to the “string” and “currency” data types. Possible values: - **Downcase**: convert characters to lowercase ('UsD' -\> 'usd') - **Upcase**: convert characters to uppercase ('UsD' -\> 'USD') - **None**: do not change the case ('UsD' -\> 'UsD') |
| **Example** | A field value example. |
| **Display name** | The field name displayed in the drop-down menu of **Field** when creating/editing a rule. |
| **Description** | A description of the field. |
| **Aggregations** | A toggle to make the[aggregation field](https://ecomcharge.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DOC/pages/2114027543/Set+fields#fieldsubtype). |
| \*required |  |

**Example: A field to track promo-codes**
