# Change the activation status of a business category

The system does not allow deleting the created business categories, but you can deactivate the active categories. This helps not to show the deactivated categories when creating or editing a shop, but to keep the name of the shop business category in reports.

To activate or deactivate a business category, follow these steps:

1. Go to **Admin \> Business Categories.**
2. Click **Edit** in the row of the required category.
3. Activate or deactivate the **Active** checkbox.
4. Click **Apply** to save the changes or cancel them.

You will see the deactivated categories in gray after the active ones.
